Website meta descriptions are used to inform web users on search engines about the content of webpages. They are placed as an attribute in the header section of each webpage so that search engines can access them and display them when a webpage is shown on search engine results pages, along with the page’s title.
Meta descriptions are typically short, concise pieces of writing that give web users an idea of what they’ll find if they click on the hyperlink to a webpage. Google limits the numbers of characters that can be used in meta descriptions by putting constraints on the width, in pixels, of each line of text.
