Alexa Rank

SEO History

In the late 1990s, Alexa Internet was created. Until it was retired in 2022, a website’s Alexa Rank was an important feature of SEO marketing. The Alexa website ranked top-level domains by their traffic volume, as derived from users of the website’s toolbar and other data gathering techniques.

The highest Alexa Rank was 1, which meant that a website had the most views of all those ranked. The higher the number, the lower the rank of a particular website. Until the service was decommissioned in 2022, marketers could search for a website’s Alexa Rank directly on the platform’s website.
