DNS Server (Domain Name System Server)

Server Responses

A Domain Name Server (DNS) is hosted on a server to connect domain names (the URL that people type into search bars) with the IP addresses of the websites in question (such as 353.688.242.177). DNS servers are essential for the fetching of a website from the web server that it’s saved upon.  

When a person types in any URL, the browser being used will contact the Domain Name Server of their Internet Service Provider (ISP) in order to return the correct IP address, which it will then route the web user to, all in fractions of a second.
