Autosuggest is a feature on search engines that will provide a suggested completed search term when only part of the search term has been inputted into the search bar. This takes place in real time, which means that the search bar is instantly populated by options when a user keys in certain terms.
Autosuggest is built to take into account the prevalence of certain search terms – both over time, and in a select time period. It will also make suggestions based on the previous browsing history of the web user making the search, in order to tailor suggestions to meet their perceived interests.
