There are many different aspects to your businesses success. While smart management can help you run an effective company, it is your marketing efforts that will really give you the success that you are looking for. Sure, you can pay for advertising on social media, but this is a short-term solution when you want long-term results.

By increasing your ranking on search engine’s result pages, you can get more organic traffic every single day. You might have already heard of Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, but what you might not realise is that a large aspect of SEO can be found in your off-site efforts, particularly backlinking. What is a back link? Read on to find out:

What are Backlinks?

Your off-site SEO efforts will generally come in the form of backlinks. Backlinks are hyperlinks that link back to your website. For instance, if a blogger has used your product and has linked your company in their review, this will increase your page ranking. You do have to be careful, though, as Google’s algorithms work hard on sussing out spam or “black-hat” schemes. Google want legitimate linking and relevant content that is offering something of value to readers.

Black Hat Techniques to Avoid:

Black hat techniques are those that will get you punished by Google, with the possibility of becoming de-listed from its search engine entirely. These techniques are found and penalised by Google’s Penguin algorithm, so avoid them at all cost:

  • Use of unrelated keywords.
  • Keyword stuffing.
  • Tiny text, hidden text, or hidden links.
  • Cloaking, e., saying your post is about one topic, when it is actually about another.
  • Duplicate content.
  • Link farms.

White-hat Techniques to Utilise:

White-hat techniques are those that work within Google’s guidelines. You can create backlinks organically and within Google’s parameters, you just need to ensure your content is quality, as are the sites that link to you.

  • Relevant and interesting content.
  • Transparent links and anchor texts.
  • Focus on user experience.
  • Legitimate linking between your site and others.
  • Guest blogging.

How Does a Backlink Campaign Benefit You?

A back link campaign created and managed by a professional digital marketing agency is one that will increase your ranking on search engine results. A professional campaign involves white-hat link building techniques that start with keyword research, meaning your results are highly relevant and targeted.

How to Build Backlinks

There are many different methods to build backlinks, from:

  • Creating quality content that is shared and talked about by your community.
  • Focusing locally, and trying to get your local news agencies to publish press releases and any event news you might have to share.
  • Influencer marketing, where your influencer writes an honest

There are so many ways to get back links, but most of these take time, and aren’t guaranteed to be effective. An effective campaign requires your backlink to be published on a page with high Doman Authority (DA), which is why one of the most effective methods is to have a professional agency. You won’t have to worry about how to get backlinks, instead, you can rely on the specialists.
