Earlier this month, Google announced that they are issuing a new spam update. At this time, Google has provided no specific detail about how this update to the algorithm works. Instead, they have directed the community to check out existing documentation regarding link spam and quality.

What Do We Expect To Happen?

Historically, these sorts of updates have been nothing to worry about – as long as a site has not been using aggressive backlinking tactics. These negative tactics include utilising PBNs (private blog networks) or article spinning.

At Click Intelligence, we have a dedicated team of professional writers and editors who create unique, authoritative content.

When conducting any link building campaign, we never utilises these black hat SEO tactics.

If black hat techniques have not been used then we expect that the vast majority of sites will see no (or very, very minimal) impact as a result of Google’s link spam update. In no way do we expect this update to be the equivalent of the Panda update with regards to its impact on rankings.

Is Your Site At Risk?

Without detailed backlink analysis conducted by an SEO specialist, it’s incredibly difficult to predict the quality of all your site’s links. After all, most sites have hundreds of links that have been accumulated over numerous years.

Regarding our client’s sites, we do not expect to see any dramatic impacts of this update. We thorough quality assurance and assess all the backlinks we build on behalf of our customers. We do not build low quality, guest post style backlinks.

However, specific niches which have more challenging link building landscapes, such as forex and CBD, may be more at risk than other sectors.

The best way to be sure of this is to have a thorough backlink analysis conducted by an expert. If you’re concerned about your site or have seen a drop in rankings, let’s talk!

What Are We Doing About This Update?

Clients with Managed SEO Campaigns receive weekly performance monitoring. We do so to ensure that we are always on top of any flux in site KPIs resulting from updates like this. As a result, we can always respond rapidly and implement any necessary actions in the event they are required.

We believe in data driven marketing, so ensuring we regularly check results and react to them is essential to our way of working.

What Should You Do If You’re Not A Managed SEO Campaign Client?

Are you concerned about potentially toxic links corrupting your backlink profile? Are you worried this will result in a drop in the SERPS or penalisation?

If so, book a call for a free consultation with our team at a time that works for you.
