In 2025, 28% of Americans are actively searching for new jobs, the highest level since 2014, reflecting shifts in economic and technological conditions. A recent study by Click Intelligence analysed the most desired job titles by evaluating online interest across 50 popular professions. The researchers collected data for four key factors: “how to be [job title],” “courses for [job title],” “[job title] career opportunities,” and “[job title] salary”, then combined them to calculate Total Monthly Career Desire Searches. Jobs were ranked by overall demand, with average salary data included to highlight earning potential in each position.

“Nurse” is the most desired job title in 2025, with over 21.5M searches made for this position. This role is by far the most demanded, as it receives triple the total searches of any other profession. It scores highly across the board but stands out for having the highest monthly searches for nursing courses, at nearly 10 million.
“Project manager” follows in second, offering one of the highest salary ranges (80K-139K). More than 4M searches are made for this job concerning potential career paths. This role sees 7.1M queries each month, combining high interest with a salary range of up to $139K annually.
“Accountant” comes in third as the most desired job title in 2025. How to become an accountant was looked up 288K times, 10K more than for project managers. More people are looking up accountants’ salaries, with over 1.2M searches focused on pay, which ranges from $72K to $123K annually. Combined with interest in job openings and career paths, accounting sees a total of 5.4 million searches.
“Estimators” follow in close fourth place, with 5.43M queries. Estimators receive the second-highest amount of searches for salaries, with over 3.7M lookups. The average wage for estimators stands at $ 92.5K annually, reflecting the strong demand for this role.
“Software engineers” round out the top five most sought-after job titles of 2025. Interest is fuelled largely by competitive pay, with salaries ranging from $118K to $187K annually. This is reflected in the 2.4M searches for salary-related information. Job prospects remain a key appeal, with 1.8 million searches for career opportunities, second only to nursing.“Dentists” land sixth, offering the highest salary range in the list. With 4.6M total monthly searches, dentistry is an incredibly sought-after role. This is further demonstrated by more people searching for “how to become a dentist” than for “nursing,” with over 850K results.
“Realtors” come in seventh for the most desired job title in 2025, with the highest interest in how to enter the field. Over 2M searches focused on how to become a realtor, 300K more than any other title in the ranking. Realtors are also among the best paid at $171K.
“Data analysts” take up the eighth position. With over 1.6M monthly searches for job courses, three times as many as for software engineers, this position shows a high level of interest. Combined with high searches for career prospects, data analysts see a total monthly search rate of 3.8M.
“Data scientists” land ninth with a cumulative search volume of 3.6M. Courses for data scientists were looked up 1.7M times. The number of searches for “how to become a data scientist” reached 160K, which is double that of data analysts.
“Graphic designers” finish off the list of the most desired job titles in 2025. The demand for graphic designers resembles that of data scientists, with total searches exceeding 3M. They also see a similar interest in job courses, with 1.7M searches.
